ArchiveInterview with Victoria Tate Janine: Victoria, will you tell me about your position at Auburn University? What are your responsibilities? What is it that you most like or in which you are most interested with regard to your work? Victoria: I am the Classroom Building Manager for The College of Business and five other buildings. My key job responsibility is to manage, coordinate and oversee their daily operations. First, this includes coordinating with Facilities Division Personnel to ensure assigned classroom buildings and surrounding areas are maintained. Secondly, assisting Project/Contract Managers with the monitoring of contracts and work performed by various contractors providing services to the assigned classroom buildings. Thirdly, I serve as safety coordinator and maintains security of the building and equipment and finally, communicates with others, both orally and in writing, to keep them informed of activities and work progress, facilitate contracts, and answer questions. Janine: I would like to know about your faith background. Will you share something about your current faith/spiritual perspective, situation, and "mission?" Victoria: I believe and trust in Jesus Christ and know that he hears and answer prayers and performs miracles in this day and time. While going through the trial of the case in which I had investigated and prosecuted by the FBI, Florida State Comptrollers and the U.S. Attorney's office of the Middle District, the culprit disappeared. Prayer was made and he surfaced. I have written a book entitled "Victim to Victory" that depicts the true experience that I encountered during the trial of that investment fraud case. My mission in sharing this book is to raise the awareness of the public the necessity to perform their own research before making an investment and learning more about how to stay clear of a con-artist. It is my hope that no one will have to suffer the pain and suffering that I endured in this case. Janine: Victoria, this issue of EcuMiniNet™ Online! is about Gathering (harvesting, collecting) and Gratitude. How does that relate to your book? Victoria: When I think about the topic of Gathering and Gratitude, I will have to say that in writing my book, I hoped to share my gratefulness of being able to chronicle this story. Words can never express the gratitude that I have for God who brought me through this horrendous trial. When Victoria contacted me I was curious about her position. I wanted to hear her story about her faith. When we met, I learned about Victoria's passion for justice, a passion that would pursue that search until it was completed. These are Victoria's real gifts: her perseverance in the search for truth, her openness in sharing of her faith, and her ability to complete the mission that began as the righting of an injustice. Those are lessons that she brings to us all. (See Classifieds) © 2003 Janine C. Hagan and Victoria E. Tate | View
