Lent/Easter, Purpose, and Purple

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him......

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Luke 24: 13-16, 30-32, New International Version

Janine C. Hagan, Publisher and Editor of ecumininet online!I understand about “recognizing Jesus” and “burning hearts.” This is when I am so “in touch” with whatever I am doing or expressing, that I lose all track of time. It is as if I feel Jesus’ presence with me. I am not even aware of the energy that suddenly appears and carries me effortlessly forward. One minute I am starting on something or talking about my favorite subject and the next minute, incredible amounts of time has passed.

I love it when this happens! It is then that I know that I am very close to my purpose. We are just like plants and seem to blossom when we are connected with our innermost selves. When we are being our most relaxed and natural selves is where we can give and receive the most love. We are happiest at this point. This is what God intends for us. This is how God’s work is best carried out.

When we can have “burning hearts” for our purpose and when we sense or “recognize” that Christ is with us, and feel that mystical and energetic love, that is when we can be“raised with Jesus” in a way that is beyond explanation. For it is then that God’s greatest glory and our best selves can fuse together. We have a common goal of love that binds us together for God’s purpose, God’s journey, into new life!
