From Passion to Pentecost
By Kelly Nicole McCombs

Another night had passed with final days approaching.
The burden was intolerable and the stress was evoking
Such overwhelming pain, emotional-turned-physical,
So that man could be born from physical-to-spiritual.

The disciples were told but did not understand
The complexity and cruelty that awaited the Son of Man.
Our savior went to the cross to turn shame into glory,
To give us freedom and victory. This is his story.

Jesus burned with passion for his people. He died for our sins.
Not just those he knew then, but he was willing to defend
Sinners like us, who would curse his name in spite.
He turned immense darkness into everlasting light.

Christ took our sins upon himself. He bore our every sin.
The Father “turned His back,” but this was only to begin
The relationship, to build the bridge to connect us to our Maker
God knew we were unable to cross by ourselves, needed a savior.

Jesus died upon that cross but promised he would return.
Three days later the tomb was empty, but his people had more to learn.
Christ may have physically left, but the Spirit would pour down
The Day of Pentecost had come and amazement swept the crowd.

Searching for an explanation, yet God cannot be explained.
Many languages were spoken yet seemed as though they are the same.
All understood their own native tongue. Tell me, how can this be?
We cannot attempt to comprehend God. Just ask for faith to believe.
