Rosary
By Anni Macht Gibson
Inspired by the Anglican Rosary

Thirty three beads,
the years our Savior
walked the earth
.
Four seasons of seven beads, Hebrew sign
of wholeness
and perfection.

Thirty three beads.
Anglican prayers
of thanksgiving,
intercession,
morning devotion,
compline.

Thirty three beads–
lifeline to Almighty
God in Her splendor,
yearning for connection
with Her creation.

Thirty three prayers.
Conversations with God
inside us, outside us–
in the whipping wings
of a hummingbird,
the snake slithering
through tall timothy.

Thirty three pleas
to be pulled
from the mire
of humanity,
the muck of
our very resistance.

Thirty three times
You are with me,
holding me
to your breast
as I weep with fear.

Thirty three beads.
Worried hands clutching,
cool round stones
warming to life.
Blessed and blessing
Thirty three beads.
