ArchivesCelebrate! 'Brem' is a writer, editor, and corporate trainer who lives in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, with three of her own bunnies and two foster bunnies. She enjoys reading, watching movies, and playing tennis. Hi! It’s Arley again, your furry four-legged cute columnist. The month of April marks my birthday or, at least, the day I celebrate my birthday—the day my mom adopted me. Previously stuck alone in a cage with no toys and no loving friends, I could not believe my fortune when I moved to a place with a large living room with two other bunnies and a caring human. My first night in my new home, I was a bit scared and ran at every sound and movement. But my mom climbed carefully into my training pen, lay on the floor next to me, gently petted my head, and lulled into my ear, “Arley, you are home. You will never be alone again. You are mine.” My birthday is a time to celebrate someone choosing to love me. Someone rescued me from despair, gave me a loving home, and assured me she would never leave. Celebrating spiritual birthdays seems to be less common than celebrating physical ones. While God has always loved everyone, a lot of people (my mom included!) don’t remember the actual day they chose to love him back. Easter can serve as a great alternative day to celebrate your spiritual birthday. I mean, what better day proves how much God loves you and wants you to be with him than Easter? Or pick another day. Your spiritual birthday is probably the most significant day in your life; it’s the day you became part of God’s family. It should be celebrated! Celebrate God rescuing you from sin and despair. Celebrate the fact that you now have a loving, permanent home. Celebrate that you are never alone and never will be. As part of your celebration, create a poster. Write “Happy Birthday” and then your name in colorful letters. Then, for each letter of your name, write a reason to celebrate. Here are mine: A-Am part of God’s family Copyright © 2008 Amy Bremers.
