Snowmen Cookies
From Sarah, 9, Nebraska

This is a recipe that I make every Christmas Eve for my family and sometimes my friends if they come over. The cookies are really yummy, and you can make them look like snowmen! I like to make them because they’re easy and my family likes them. We eat them with hot cocoa or apple cider, and sometimes we open a present at the same time.

1 cup soft butter
3/4 cup powdered sugar, plus some extra for coating
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped-up nuts (pecans or walnuts are good)
red and green sprinkles if you want

Mix up the butter to make it really soft. Then add the sugar and vanilla and mix it really well again. Then mix in the flour and then the nuts. Put in the refrigerator for an hour. Take the mix out and make small balls with the dough. Bake the cookies for 20 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees F (until they are light brown). While the cookies are still hot, roll them in powdered sugar. Then you can stack them up to look like snowman and put sprinkles in for eyes, noses, mouths, and buttons.
